Helsinki
Helsinki has many facets to its identity. St. Petersburg is only a short train ride away, so maybe there is an influence of Russian culture. Possibly it's because of the city's expertise in contemporary design - Marimekko, an international brand known for its boldly patterned textiles, Kalevala, known for jewelry made from bronze and silver, and Iittala, famous for glassware. During the dark, cold, and snowy winters (fortunately, most travelers avoid visiting during those times), the city might also be associated with darkness, cold, and snow. As well as oddball fun, Helsinki has a bit of a sense of humor. Tossing Nokia cell phones and carrying wives are among the highlights of one festival each year.
